LANDSCAPE FROM 2000 FEET - OIL 18 X 24"

This was done from a series
of sketches while on a plane.
I put them together and
composed this painting.

Won Best in Show at RCAF
museum in 2016.

JAPANESE KOI POOL OIL 24 X 30"

This painting was accepted by
Parrot Gallery's 2016 Juried
Show.

I have done a number of paintings
featuring fish, especially Koi as I
am particular to their colours.

I am off on a trip to Japan in late
August.

"INQUISITIVE" OIL 20 X 24"

This is an English Robin.
Possibly something has caught
it's attention? It is from the bird
family called "chats". Quite smaller
than our North American Robin
which is from the Thrush family.

ACCEPTED AND SOLD AT THE
2016 AITC JURIED SHOW

THE BARRON CANYON - SEPTEMBER -ALGONQUIN...OIL 16 X 20"

I have painted in this area and
introduced other artists to it's
splendors. It is in the northeast
section of the park and the
views are fantastic. You stand on cliffs about 400 feet above the Barron River, favoured by canoeists.

I have done a large painting of
the canyon showing it's
immensity. Definitely worth a
visit

FLAKE'S BARN..............OIL 12 X 24"

A wonderful old barn on the
outskirts of Picton.  Notice the fieldstone foundation and the
pointed roof. I believe this is called a "hip barn" there are a
few of these in "The County".
I see many barns without their
silo tops, I wonder why that is?
The barn is still in use, at least
there were some large horses
stabled there.

TEA.........OIL 12 X 24"

TEA time, a relaxing moment during
the day. Taking time for sharing with
a friend or maybe on your own.
Nevertheless, a necessary time out in
our busy day. Although some prefer
coffee!

SALMON COVE, NEWFOUNDLAND....OIL 16 X 20"

Situated near Carbonear on
Conception Bay. A scenic
beach and an invigorating hike.

There is a wonderful B&B very
close to this spot that I have
recommended to others. It's
named "At Williams Rest"

THE MEADOW GARDEN.......OIL 24 X 30"

The gardener built his garden
so that it incorporates the
expanse and beauty of the meadow.

Notice how it takes advantage
of the wildflowers native to the
meadow.

          SOLD

WESTERN BROOK POND, GROS MORNE NF. OIL 24 X 36"

A fiord like "pond", not a true
fiord as they, empty into the sea.

You can hike overland or take a boat to visit here and there are
boat tours on the pond. Anyone
visiting Newfoundland should
make this a must.

NOVEMBER TAMARACS - ALGONQUIN.....OIL 24 X 30"

Most people that know me, know
that I love Tamaracs. A beautiful
light green in the Spring turning
to a golden orange in Autumn .

They lose their needles in Autumn
and grow them again in the Spring.

BARN IN MARCH, PEC ......... OIL 8 X 16"

I particularly like the "melting days" of March the air seems infused with the colour around it.

This barn has now been
replaced with a newer one.

    SOLD

BEACH at TURKS & CAICOS OIL 12 X 24"

A long view of the white sandy beaches
that grace this tropical paradise. Did you know that
they once applied to join Canada?

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY BARN - OIL 16 X 20"

I particularly like the colour of this barn, the owner
paints it every few years. The missing planks are
Artistic License, not the carelessness of the owner.

HEMLOCK PATCHWORK - TEMOGAMI...Oil 16 x 20"

I'm really not an an "abstract"painter, this is as close as I'll come. This was painted in TEMOGAMI and I was taken by the play of light and shadow and the "patchwork" of the colours through the tree.

THE MAID WHO FLEW WITH SWANS..... OIL 24 X 30"

This painting came completely from my imagination and I  entered it in the AITC Juried Show.

The Maid on the Swan represents Mother Nature pointing in the direction of the constellation  Cygnus. Her robe is multi-coloured representing the colours of our world. She is flying above The Milky Way.

OUTGOING TIDE - SEAPOINT BEACH - MAINE ACRYLIC 22 X 31"

Seapoint is a "hidden gem" near
Kittery. Maine. Part of the beach is very rocky with lots of tidal pools, the other part is sandy and suitable for swimming. When the tide is up it reaches  the rocks in the foreground. The various natural levels of beach "stuff" was challenging to paint. Rocks in shade, rocks in sun, seaweed, sand strip, more seaweed, a thin strip of sand and rocks at the waters edge

"PERCHED".....OIL 22 X 28"

Many Newfoundland outports have houses "perched' on the rocky hillsides overlooking an anchorage. At one time these outports were serviced by costal
steamer only. Times have changed, with the arrival of roads and electricity.

BACK ALLEY TEAM OIL 20 x 24"

Reminds me of ball hockey games when we were always a man short!

I was told that I should put some Leafs or
Sens sweaters in the painting if I wanted
to sell in Ontario....ah well!

THE FOUR SEASONS OIL 24" x 30"

This highly textured painting pays homage. I hope, to
Vivaldi, whose music has served as an inspiration for
many of my paintings, thankfully, all sold!

THE ELEMENTS ...... OIL 24" X 30"

The Four Elements are; Fire, Wind, Water and
Earth. I have tried to show man's presence in the painting
by putting a "Newfie Piper" kettle on the
Fire. My family used this kettle in many camping
and fishing trips.

NEAR TWILLINGATE NF OIL 20" X 24"

I guess this is a rather romantic
view of Newfoundland. It's from
my NF sketch book which
happens to be full of so called
"romantic views"

Are there any "Newfies" out there?
I would love to hear what you think.

" ? " OIL ON WOODEN PANEL

This painting is named "?". The front panel shows the
Milky Way Galaxy. Earth is in the Orion Arm of this galaxy.
In the Universe there are many galaxys and in this one
Earth is but a dust mote. Why then are we pillaging our planet?
Given the size of the galaxy or the universe, do we think we are
the only ones in it? Questions to ponder.
Posted by Picasa
Once opened, the painting displays the "Blue Planet"
and the cracks in the ozone layer. The panels on
either side have the same scene. One is lush and
verdant, the other hot and dry with little greenery.
There is a small touch of green in the right corner
of the right panel. Is this a REBIRTH or is it the
DEATH of our world as we know it.
